Providence Industrial Electronics Repair, Inc. recently announced the hiring of John Stam, Production Control Coordinator.

John comes from an engineering family. His older brother Phil is a mechanical engineer, so John was introduced to the field at an early age. After high school, John majored in Electrical Engineering at Dordt College in Iowa, the state where he grew up. This is when he really got to dig in, and start learning about electronics.

Throughout college, John had many engineering projects that emphasized a variety of different areas within engineering. He had an engineering internship the summer of 2013 at Raven Industries, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was in the Applied Technology Division, which focused on the precision agriculture industry.

Jeff George, owner of Providence, has known John and his family since 2007, as they are members of the same Presbyterian Reformed Church. In 2012, he and John ran into each other at a church conference, and Jeff first raised the possibility of John’s coming to Providence. When John visited NC this past summer, Jeff invited John to join the team at Providence Industrial, and after careful deliberation and planning, John decided to accept the position of Production Control Coordinator at Providence Industrial Electronics Repair.

When asked to describe his biggest challenge when it comes to repairing industrial electronics, John said, "One part of my job that can be challenging at times is quoting the units that come in. Since we often receive unique units for repair, it is sometimes not possible to find any market pricing information. However, since Jeff George has far more experience in electronics than I do, he has given me some help when I needed it.”

We are excited to see the overall operation at Providence improve over time with John's addition to the team. His main responsibilities include:

1. Quality Control – John ensures that each unit is clean, that the technician’s work looks good, and that the technician involved complied with certain company policies. “One goal I have in quality control", said John "is to address problems when they come up so that technicians don’t keep repeating the same problem.”

2. Quoting Jobs – Quoting the correct price for a repair is right for Providence and the customer.

3. Customer Service – If a prospective customer wants a repair done or a customer isn’t satisfied, John works hard to ensure that Providence meets the customer's needs. One of John’s main goals right now is to learn as much as he can and get comfortable answering questions the customers have. As time goes on, it’s getting easier. John really likes helping our customers in whatever ways he can.

4. Supervisor – John manages employees, and provides accountability.

The Providence Industrial Electronics Team is very happy to welcome John as a new addition to our team, and we look forward to many successful years in business together.
